Planting individual flowers and vegetables: Prepare soil with your favorite potting soil. Dig a hole appropriately sized for the transplant. Place 1 Tbsp of Green Gardens Mix in the bottom of the hole and place the plant firmly in the hole – pressing it gently to the bottom to eliminate air pockets. Fill the remaining portion of the hole with potting soil and press soil firmly against root-ball and plant stem. Water the transplant. 1 lb of Green Gardens Mix will be sufficient for approximately 25 plants. An alternate application method is to till Green Gardens Mix within the first 3” to 4” of prepared soil then plant seed. 1 lb of Green Gardens Mix will be sufficient for approximately 13 Sq. Ft. of garden area; and 4 lbs of Green Gardens Mix will be sufficient for approximately 50 Sq. Ft. of garden area.
Planting fruit trees, decorative trees, and grape vines: Green Garden Mix should be used when planting new trees or grape vines for the first time. Dig a hole appropriately sized for the tree or vine. Place one large hand full of Green Garden Mix in the bottom of the hole and place the tree or vine firmly in the hole – pressing it gently to the bottom to eliminate air pockets. Fill the remaining portion of the hole with soil and press soil firmly against root-ball and trunk. Water the tree or vine. 1 lb of Green Gardens Mix will be sufficient for approximately 5 trees or vines.
Grow your own seedlings: 1 lb of Green Gardens Mix will be sufficient for approximately 25 plants. Place 1 Tbsp of Green Gardens Mix in each pot before planting seeds. Or you can mix 1 lb of Green Gardens Mix with enough soil to fill all of your pots. Then just fill pots with the soil/Green Gardens Mix and plant seeds.
Green Gardens Mix for Rebuilding Your Soil Naturally
A Custom Blend of Worm Castings with Mycorrhizae and Tazo-B
Green Gardens Mix
Green Gardens Mix includes the following:
WORM CASTINGS: The Green Garden Mix provides a superior mix of pure, uncontaminated worm castings and dozens of strains of bacteria and beneficial fungi. One part worm castings to 9 parts soil can increase plant growth by up to 20% and root mass by up to 150%. Plants are healthier and stronger. Worm castings improve the physical structure of soil, enhance seed germination, plant growth and crop yield. Worm castings add important enzymes and plant hormone producing bacteria. These organisms, working with plant roots, produce mineral solubilizing enzymes and plant root promoting hormones such as GA, IAA and IBA.
MYCORRHIZAE are generally spoken of in the plural (rather than the singular mycorrhiza) since they comprise vast colonies of very small micro-organisms found naturally in the top profile of undisturbed soils. Mycorrhizae are a natural occurring fungi (same family as mushrooms) which work in partnership with plant roots to help increase a plant’s ability to absorb nutrients and waters from the soil. The way they work is a lot like the beneficial bacteria in our own digestive system. Plants inoculated early with mycorrhizae have a better chance of becoming more vigorous and fruitful.
Benefits of Mycorrhizae
• 100% natural and organic treatment (mycorrhizae are living organisms)
• Tried and tested by nature over more than 400 million years
• One off treatment that lasts the duration of a plants’ lifetime (when planting in final position)
• Easy and safe to apply
• Increased drought resistance and immunity to heat stress
• Decreased requirement for chemical fertilizers and pesticides
• Faster growth due to increased uptake of soil phosphorous
• Increased resistance to root diseases
• Improves soil structure on eroded or reclaimed sites or steep banks (helps bind soil together)
• Helps limit weed invasion (through improved soil structure)
• Increases plant diversity
• Increased root area, flowering & fruiting
• Increased survival rates of transplants and seedlings
• Can be applied to mature plants and trees
• Roots colonized by mycorrhizae take hold faster in newly planted plants
TAZO B is a super nitrogen fixing bacteria product. The active ingredient found in TAZO®-B is the bacteria Azospirillum. Azospirillum has been found to increase root mass through University studies and independent tests. Azospirillum is a bacteria that can be found in most soils, but at very low populations. Increasing the amount of Azospirillum in the soil is beneficial in helping to fix nitrogen, stimulate root growth and thus plant growth, and increase the stress tolerance of plants.
